Who We Are

W.A.T.E.R.S. is a group of women who care deeply about Philadelphia—its river, its people, and the spaces that bring us together.

The Alliance was formed around a simple idea: when people come together in service of something beyond themselves, they can create lasting change. We are motivated by a shared commitment to environmental stewardship, public health, and the power of public spaces to connect and inspire.

“Having spent my career focused on policing and public safety, I know that people fully embrace public spaces when they feel safe. Philadelphia’s beautiful, historic parks, trails, and river drives should inspire women and families to explore, exercise, and connect with confidence, knowing these spaces are designed with their safety and well-being in mind.”

-Maureen S. Rush, President, Philadelphia Police Foundation
